The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is one the Europe’s largest and most modern hospitals.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs The James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton as well as community services in Hambleton, Richmondshire, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland.

The trust has a workforce of almost 9,000 (including community services) and provides a range of specialist regional services to 1.5million people in the Tees Valley, areas of Durham, North Yorkshire and Cumbria with particular expertise in heart disease, trauma, neurosciences, renal services, cancer services and spinal injuries.

Playfords provides a complete Cat5e Connectix UTP cabling solution for the network infrastructure including multicore and fibre optic cabling installations.

The James Cook University Hospital has approximately 105 communications cabinets with 30,000 data outlets throughout the site which are maintained by an on-site ICT department whom we deal with directly on a day to day basis.

Due to the complexity of the hospital and the varied specialist services it provides, our engineers complete an annual training session provided by the hospital which provides further information on many critical matters which may arise within the hospital including patient confidentiality, potential health and safety issues, security and risk of transferring infectious diseases. Our engineers are also fully accredited with Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks, which are regularly updated.
