Playfords work at Lakeside includes enhancing the infrastructure and facilities to improve the overall visitor experience.
Playfords were appointed to undertake a comprehensive project involving the replacement and upgrade of several critical components within Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, Essex. The scope of works included the replacement and upgrade of nine electrical motor control panels supplying roof-mounted air handling Units (AHU) and extract equipment, along with the installation of new building management system (BMS) outstations to enhance control and monitoring capabilities.
Additionally, two outdated smoke ventilation control panels were removed and replaced with new to ensure compliance with current safety standards.
Non-compliant and outdated Low Voltage (LV) electrical distribution boards were also removed replaced to improve safety and reliability.

The project began with a thorough survey and validation of the existing equipment to understand the current state and requirements. Following this, the design and manufacture of the replacement components were carried out. To minimize disruption, Playfords worked closely with the client to plan and execute the replacements efficiently. Each panel was carefully isolated, disconnected, and removed before the new panel was installed and recommissioned. During this process, the building management system controls were also upgraded, ensuring seamless integration with the new equipment.
Overall, the project was executed with a focus on minimizing downtime and ensuring that all new installations met the latest standards and specifications.
