HMP MILLSIKE

Full Sutton, East Yorkshire

Playfords successfully completed a large-scale data cabling installation across the new build HMP Millsike Prison in Yorkshire.

HMP Millsike is an example of how Kier and their supply chain used their expertise and resources to deliver a contemporary, innovative construction solution which aligns with the government’s 2050 net zero carbon commitments. HMP Millsike will be the UK’s first all-electric prison and will open in 2025.

Playfords delivery team were on site for 14-months installing the Copper Cat6A infrastructure throughout the newly formed houseblocks and all the support buildings along with a significant site wide Fibre Optic cabling infrastructure. A proportion of our installation will be utilised to form part of the controls to the all-electric energy system.

Our site based supervisory team showed great commitment lodging away from home throughout the project, working diligently to ensure our installation works remained on programme whilst leading a large team of engineers across the site.

We received some very positive feedback from senior Kier representatives, Dan Chappell Kier MEP Project Lead wrote:

“As we near the completion of your works on HMP Millsike I just wanted to put in writing how pleased we have been with your team’s performance over the last 14 months. Throughout their time on site, Mark Grady and Liam Nixon have been fantastic to work with. They have always been proactive, able and honest, making the data installation across the whole site as seamless and pain-free as possible. They have been well supported of course by Dan Betty your Project Manager and your operatives across the many workfaces. I would have no hesitation in working with Playford’s in the future and can happily say you have been one of our best MEP subcontractors on site. Thanks to you and your team.”
