Warboys rider crowned 2026 ACU British Flat Track Champion

In his first competitive season, Playfords sponsored rider Peter Dear produced a flawless campaign, winning all four rounds to secure the national title.

The 2026 ACU British Flat Track Championship opened at King’s Lynn Speedway Stadium on 20 and 21 June, with the first two rounds staged over the weekend. Peter Dear made an immediate impact, winning on both days and carrying the championship lead into round three.
It was an exceptional start to Peter’s first competitive championship campaign. The two victories provided valuable confidence, but the remaining rounds promised an even sterner test as the riders became increasingly familiar with one another’s strengths and tactics.

Round three took place at Leicester Speedway Stadium in August. Peter again faced strong competition, but delivered an assured performance in qualifying to earn first choice of grid position for the final.
Peter selected the inside line and launched strongly, but had to work hard through the opening corner as the field fought for position. After absorbing close pressure during the first few laps, he began to pull clear and rode on to take the chequered flag. The victory extended his perfect record to three wins from three rounds and established a commanding championship lead ahead of the Buxton finale.

The fourth and final round was held at Buxton in Derbyshire in September 2026. Having collected maximum points from the first three rounds, Peter arrived with a commanding lead. A top-three finish would have secured the championship, but he approached the meeting with the same focus and determination that had defined his season.

Peter once again dominated qualifying and earned his preferred grid position for the main race. In the final, he delivered a faultless performance, taking the lead from the start and remaining in front all the way to the chequered flag.

The victory completed an unbeaten campaign and confirmed Peter Dear as the 2026 ACU British Flat Track Champion, an outstanding achievement in his first competitive season.

Peter and his parents are due to attend the annual motorcycle show in Birmingham in November, where he will be presented with the championship trophy. His achievement is also expected to feature in a forthcoming edition of Motorcycle News.
